TOURISM IN VENEZUELA (PART 2)

Last week we talked something about the evolution of tourism in our country in the early last century: the first law on tourism and Venezuela's budding tourism industry, also mentioned some of the characters that have to do with tourism in our region.

We commented that the First Law of Tourism was created on August 27, 1938 under the chairmanship of Chief General (GN) Eleazar López Contreras, and has endured for 35 years.

That Act contained 32 items and were the most important aspects of the Authority, which made it clear that all services related to tourism under the Ministry of Development, the Federal Executive determined the sites, places or regions of the country destined to tourist areas, rates and conditions provision of tourist services and accommodation, consulting, project approval, funding and authority for tourism police.

By the way, how sad that no longer exists or Tourist Police Brigade Bolivar State which had for some time, was a very good idea and you need to create Appendix today a tourist within the police ranks with officials actually trained fairly in this matter and Human Relations. Well, that's a topic for discussion in the future.

Hotel Ávila 1942

in 1942 is the creation of Hotel "AVILA" ( although others say it was in 47) by Nelson Rockefeller , American tycoon who lived between 1908 and 1979, forty-second vice president of the United States, a close friend of Rómulo Betancourt and Cisneros. In our blog you will see the link to contact website and learn more about the hotel.

In the year 1947, establishing the National Office of Tourism attached to the Directorate of Industries of the Ministry of Development , also running Tourism Advisory Committee. For the following year, he announced plans to tour credits and tax exemptions are established for the importation of goods for tourism development.

For the second time in history tourism in our country, or at least many agree with classifying this way, in 1953 created the Department of Tourism, Ministry of Development, which replaces the National Tourism Office being included in the National Budget this fiscal year.

For that year, was the General Marcos Pérez Jiménez . The previous year, ie 1952 gave a coup and proclaimed himself President of Venezuela . His administration was characterized as progressive in terms of infrastructure and planning, but under the shadow an iron dictatorship, supported by strong corporate profits in the oil industry When is it not? But in 1958 he was overthrown by a popular uprising that was supported with the army.

The December 6, 1954 was opened under the government of Perez Jimenez, the famous Torres del Silencio in Caracas .

Centro Simón Bolívar and Torres del Silencio, Caracas-Venezuela

This architectural marvel was build under President Isaias Medina Angarita and its creator was the architect J. Cipriano Domínguez (1904-1995), National Architecture Award 1990 . It is fair to say that the architect, along with other high-class, created the Centro Simon Bolivar in 1952.

Front, Architect J. Cipriano Domínguez, National Architecture Award 1990.

Both

architectural monuments, neglected and undervalued now, are a major tourist attraction.

the Department of Tourism created in 53, took over the functions of the National Tourism Office , as stated above, are established and begin operating hotel companies: Miranda CA Hotel, Hotel CA Carmona, CA Hotel Prado Rio Hotel, Barinas CA and Hotels and Tourism New South Wales CA

Intercontinental Hotel Group.

All these companies are hot Elera merged and formed the National Corporation for Tourism and Hotel, CA, known as CONAHOTU, on August 22, 1955 and if you want to know more, well I tell you that was established with a capital of 12,404,500.00 Bs, registered in the Register of the Federal District Judicial District and Miranda State, low in No. 42, Volume 14-A, with a share majority state, through the Ministry of Development.

In 1958, by Resolution of the Ministry of Development, is named Commission for the Development of Tourism Bill.

In 1961 the new National Constitution, Article 30 states that tourism is managed at local level, but attributed the Ordinal 24 of Article 136 of jurisdiction to legislate on tourism to National Power.

We reached this point, commenting on the issue of tourism activity in Venezuela, focusing more on the history of tourism legislation. Culminate next week this issue with the repeal of the first law on tourism and the subsequent until today.
